The Blue Mountains of Australia

These scenic mountains and rugged cliffs, separated by deep valleys, are located to the west and north of Sydney.  They are home to native birds and other wildlife, including kangaroos and koalas, and to the eucalyptus trees on which the koalas feed.

Left -  Australian-built OKA vehicle.  Originally designed for the military, several are now used by tourist companies.  Eric and his fellow meteor watchers rode in this vehicle.
Left Center - Road through the mountains traveled by the OKA!
Right Center - View of the scenic Blue Mountains.  The scene is somewhat reminiscent of the Blue Mountains in Eric's native state of Pennsylvania, but the vegetation is different.  In Australia, a blue haze over the mountains can be produced by eucalyptus oils in the air!
Right - A scenic rock formation alongside the road.
